HEART FOR KIDS

For young girls and boys who end up on the streets of Brazil, abuse and exploitation are all too common. They are often very confused about the concepts of love. The Heart For Kids program is one of our efforts to help get them on the right track.

We use Valentine’s Day as a fun way to discuss love, relationships and managing feelings without manipulating or being manipulated.  Clearly, our kids have had lots of negative role models.

Each year, you can join us in the fun of communicating an uplifting message by sending Valentine’s Day cards! We ask that you then mail all cards to our US office by May 1st.

On Valentine’s Day, you can make cards for the children at Hope Unlimited, and then send them to us! It may seem like a small act of kindness, but getting a card is a big deal to our kids. Many have never received a letter or card from anyone.

You can find a downloadable card to help personalize it here and to customize your envelope you can print it with these designs here. Or, you can make a digital card and send it to us – find the instructions on how to do that here. You may also choose to make a card using your own materials. Many friends of Hope even host Valentine’s Day parties where they share the joy of making cards together.

Find a list with Portuguese phrases to use in your Valentine’s card here.

Below is a list of names for all of the current students at both of our campuses. Girls and boys are indicated by color. You may choose to personalize some of your cards by randomly selecting names from this list. You may also choose to generically address some cards “Dear Valentine.”

The Hope campuses serve 1000 annually. These cards are intended for those who have no families to return to and live on our campus.
