“The streets are no place for a child of God.” But Hope receives the hopeless. When a child arrives, it is often in the back of a police car. They are alone and afraid. Most of them have never had a single possession of their own. A Hope welcome kit consists of a monogrammed towel, basic toiletries, and a stuffed animal. It becomes their prized possession and as something belongs to them, they gain a sense of belonging. You can help a child feel welcome.

Few sights can be more heart wrenching than that of a child of the favela in rags. Our sojourns into the poverty stricken areas take us past kids who are filthy, the younger ones often wearing only a dirty t-shirt. What a contrast it is to see a child of Hope well dressed. Your donation dresses a child in what may be the first set of decent clothes they have ever worn in their lives.

The street children In Brazil are, without exception, hungry and malnourished. They spend their days desperately seeking their next meal. The picture of a child scavenging through a garbage pile for scraps of food is absolutely heart-rending. Our kids are not only well-fed, but because they live in family cottages, learn how to help prepare nutritious meals - and you should see them eat! Your donation can feed a child for a week.

Broken lives need more than just physical restoration. Hearts and spirits need healing too. We introduce children, whose only concept of father is the drunken man who stumbles into their house at night to assault them, to the Father of Love. Hope’s discipleship program not only helps with the healing of broken lives but starts our kids down a path of spiritual growth and helps them understand the promise of eternity. Our ultimate goal is to break the cycle of hopelessness, exploitation, and poverty. On top of basic education, Hope’s award-winning vocational programs offer certification and guaranteed job placement. After a year of intense training, graduates begin an internship and transition to paying jobs.
